Sister Speak is the recording alias for Canadian singer and guitarist Sherri Anne. Hailing originally from Canada’s west coast and southern California, Sister Speak’s sound is a fusion of alternative, folk, blues-rock, and world music influences, with Sherri Anne’s soulful vocals and guitar playing at the forefront. Sister Speak toured 4th record Love For All, now out on vinyl record, through Germany, USA and Canada.
Sister Speak has toured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, and has released four critically acclaimed albums to date, each of them “a result of moments of extreme vulnerability transformed into music,” says Sherri Anne. Sister Speak is known for powerful live performances and socially conscious lyrics. She has a dedicated fanbase and has gained popularity through her acoustic performances, band concerts, songwriting and recordings.
In addition to headlining legendary venues like San Diego’s Belly Up, Hotel Cafe Los Angeles, and Rockwood Music Hall NYC, Sister Speak has supported Don Carlos, Air Supply (seven times) and The Doobie Brothers. Sister Speak also performed acoustic concerts at festivals alongside acts such as Mary Lambert, The Wailers and Dan Mangan, among others. Her music has been featured on CBC, BBC, NPR, “California Roots Presents” playlists, and various radio stations around the world. During her time in California, Sister Speak was named “Best Pop” at the San Diego Music Awards and “Top 10 Rhythm Guitarist” by NBC, and partnerships formed with sponsors Taylor Guitars and D’addario (strings). Fourth record, Love For All (L’Amour Pour Tous), now out on vinyl record, features award-winning musicians and engineers and both a festive and vulnerable voyage of songs.
This year, get ready for Sister Speak’s first ever intimate acoustic ep, and an international tour to accompany its release. With co-producers Elisa Pangsaeng and Erik Nielsen (bassist of City and Colour) at the helm, a new “indie-folk” maiden voyage is scheduled for departure in 2024.
